Woken at 10 by Matt’s endless alarms and wrote the previous 3 entries.

Nik arrived around 2 and we drove 1.5 hours to Olympia. I slept most of the way. It cost 6 euros to get in, due to Brexit. The ruins were super cool. After the dryness of Athens, it felt nice to be amongst greenery again. Pillars, and pieces of pillars lay everywhere, some repaired and standing tall.

Andrew and I raced along the sprinting track, starting from the marble start line. I remember doing that as a kid. I lost. We looked around for a while, then it began to spit, then it began to rain, then it began to pour. We’d heard thunder the whole time were there – appropriate at Zeus’s temple – then he got angry.

All 4 of us (Matt had stayed at home) got completely soaked through. Eventually we found refuge in a café. After drying off a little we took a cold look around the impressive Olympic museum, then drove back to Patras. Once again I slept most of the way.

When back we acquired Matt and met Nik, Andrew and Nikos (Nik’s friend) in the square, where we got a few drinks. After that Matt left and we went off to meet up with Adonis and Illyas at a cocktail bar. We got one drink there but it soon closed.

A few of us got food – I got a Greek sausage sandwich, then we sat with a beer by the harbour and chatted. It was nice. It was a chill night. Nik drove the others home, while Miles and I walked.
